How to Use a DART Ticket Vending Machine (TVM)

TVM Machine Type A
To purchase a ticket from a DART TVM like the one shown below, follow the four steps outlined on the TVM. Single-ride tickets and Day Passes are valid only on the date of purchase.

TVM Machine Type B
Available at Downtown Garland, Forest/Jupiter, LBJ/Skillman and White Rock stations on the Blue Line; Park Lane, Walnut Hill, Forest Lane, LBJ/Central, Spring Valley, Arapaho Center, Galatyn Park, Bush Turnpike, Downtown Plano and Parker Road stations on the Red Line; and Victory Station on the Green Line.To purchase tickets from a DART TVM like the type shown to the right, follow the steps below. Single-ride tickets and Day Passes are valid only on the date of purchase.
- Select ticket type: Local, System, Regional or Reduced. Press P to pay, insert amount shown on screen and collect your ticket. Machine will take coins, $1, $5, $10 and $20 bills.
- To purchase multiple day passes, press the appropriate ticket type (Local, System, Regional or Reduced) the desired number of times. Press P to pay, insert amount shown on the screen and collect your tickets.
Multiple types of day passes may also be purchased in a single transaction. For example, to purchase two Local Day Passes and one Reduced Day Pass, select Local twice, select Reduced once and press P to pay. Insert amount shown on the screen and collect your tickets. - Single-Ride Tickets*. Select I, then select Local, System, Regional or Reduced. Press P to pay, insert amount shown on the screen and collect your ticket.
To purchase multiple single-ride tickets, press I, then select the appropriate ticket type (Local, System, Regional or Reduced) the desired number of times. Multiple types of single-ride tickets may be purchased in a single transaction. Press P to pay, insert amount shown on the screen and collect your tickets.

Note: Select J to cancel your last entry or press C at the bottom of the screen to cancel a transaction.
TVM Machine Type C
Available at Deep Ellum Station, Baylor University Medical Center Station, Fair Park Station and MLK, Jr. Station on the Green Line.To purchase tickets from a DART TVM like the type shown to the right, follow the steps below. Single-ride tickets and Day Passes are valid only on the date of purchase.
- Select ticket type:
Single-ride*, Day, 7 Day or 31 Day - Select fare type:
Local, System, Regional or Reduced# - Enter your money. This type of TVM will accept coins, $1, $5, $10, and $20 bills and credit cards (American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa).
- Collect your ticket and change.
# No 7 Day or 31 Day Passes available for Reduced fare type.
Multiple types of tickets may also be purchased in a single transaction on this machine.
Note: With the introduction of this new machine type at Deep Ellum, Baylor University Medical Center, Fair Park and MLK, Jr. stations, credit cards may now be used to purchase DART fares at a rail station. In addition to single-ride and day passes, 7 Day and 31 Day Passes may also be purchased at these machines. Both the 7 Day and 31 Day Passes are valid from the date purchased at the TVM. The beginning and ending valid dates will be printed on the pass. The option to receive a receipt will be available for credit card transactions.
DART Fares
DART offers three basic, one-way fares -- $1.75 for Local bus and rail service, $2.50 for System service (valid for Local service plus express bus service (all route numbers in the 200s) between downtown Dallas and free park & ride facilities in Addison, Carrollton, Farmers Branch, Garland, Glenn Heights, Irving, Plano, and Rowlett; Trinity Railway Express (TRE) trains between Union Station and West Irving Station; DART On-Call; and FLEX service) and $3.75 for Regional service (valid for Local and System service plus all TRE trains and The T in Fort Worth.)
For those passengers using DART round trip or making transfers to a second bus or rail route, a Day Pass -- $4.00 for Local, $5.00 for System and $7.50 for Regional -- is recommended. Day Passes are good for unlimited rides (including your return trip) until 3 a.m. Single-ride tickets and Day Passes are valid only on the date of purchase.
Reduced fares are available for seniors age 65 or older with DART photo ID or Medicare Card, non-paratransit certified persons with disabilities with valid DART photo ID or Medicare card, high school students with DART photo ID or current high school photo ID from a school within the DART service area (time restriction may apply; see individual pass or ticket for details), or students ages 5 - 14, no photo ID required. A reduced one-way fare is $.85 and a Day Pass is $2.00.
